  A/Prof Sandra Lin
Associate Professor

Dr Sandra Lin is Associate Professor of Otolaryngology in the Division of Rhinology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she is Director of Otolaryngic Allergy Services. Dr Lin currently serves as the Treasurer of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA), and chair of the AAOA International Relations Committee. She has taught at numerous CME courses, including the AAOA Basic and Advanced Courses. Dr Lin has several publications in the area of Otolaryngic Allergy and Rhinology. She completed her Otolaryngology Residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and founded the Otolaryngic Allergy Clinic at the Southern Illinois School of Medicine where she was faculty prior to joining Johns Hopkins in 2002.

  Prof Bradley Marple
Professor & Vice Chairman, Otolaryngology

Professor Bradley Marple is the Vice Chairman of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre Dallas and holds concurrent positions as Chief of Otolaryngology at Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital and Parkland Memorial Hospital.

He was the recipient of the prestigious President’s Recognition Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy in 2005. He sits on several National Committees including the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) as the Rhinology and Paranasal Chair, the American Association of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) and the American Rhinologic Society (ARS). He is also a reviewer for many prominent ENT publications including Laryngoscope and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Prof Marple has a keen interest in Allergic Disorders of the Nose and has published extensively on Allergic Rhinitis, Allergic Fungal Sinusitis and Nasal Polyposis.

  Dr Kevin McMains

He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, American Rhinologic Society and the Society of University Otolaryngologists.

A/Prof Chew Fook Tim

After obtaining his Ph.D. in Allergy and Immunology in 1998 from the National University of Singapore (NUS), A/Prof Chew continued his post-doctoral work in the field of genetics of complex diseases at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and Allergy and Immunology at the Department of Paediatrics, National University of Singapore, from 1998 to 2001. He is currently the Deputy Head of Department at the Department of Biological Sciences (NUS). He has been awarded several honours for his contributions to research, education and service. These include: the NUS Outstanding University Researcher Award (1999); NUS Teaching Excellence Awards (2001/2 and 2002/3); NUS Faculty of Science Teaching Excellence Awards (2002/3, 2003/4, 2004/5, 2008/9); NUS Faculty of Science Teaching Honour Roll (2005/6), NUS Office of Life Sciences Young Investigator Award (2003); Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors Award (2004); and CRISP Award for Outstanding UROPS Undergraduate Project (Supervisor) (2008). He was awarded the Singapore Youth Award in 2004, the nation’s highest accolade for individuals under the age of 35, for his contributions in Science and Technology, and his active promotion of the Sciences among youths. A/Prof Chew research interests include Allergic Rhinitis, House Dust Mite Allergens, Auto-allergy, and the Genetics of Asthma and Allergic Diseases.

  Dr Leong Jern-Lin
Director of Sinus and Allergy Services
Ascent Ear Nose Throat Specialist Group

Dr Leong is a Visiting Consultant to the Department of Otolaryngology, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Director of Sinus and Allergy Services in Ascent Ear Nose Throat Specialist Group, Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. (www.ascentent.com) He obtained his medical degree and ENT residency training in Singapore. During residency, he was awarded the Singapore Cancer Society Fellowship and completed a basic research project attachment in the Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, USA . He pursued further subspecialisation in the area of Rhinology & Allergy by completing a one-year hands-on Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA under the directorship of Professor Martin J. Citardi and Professor Pete S. Batra in 2005.

Dr Leong is the Director of the ENT Allergy Service and pioneered the immunotherapy service in SGH. His areas of clinical research include allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, image guided surgery (IGS) in advanced trans-nasal endoscopic skull base/nasal work and Narrow Band Imaging for early nasopharyngeal carcinoma detection amongst others. Dr Leong has multiple publications in international peer-reviewed journals and holds several research grants from SGH and the Singapore Ministry of Health.

A/Prof Dharambir S Sethi
Senior Consultant, Otolaryngology
Singapore General Hospital

Associate Professor Dharmbir S Sethi is a Senior Consultant with the Department of Otolaryngology, Singapore General Hospital and an Associate Professor with the School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. A graduate of Medical College, Patiala, India, Dr Sethi received his basic otolaryngology training in Singapore. He is well known for his techniques in this endoscopic sinus surgery.

Over the past 14 years Dr Sethi has been invited to more than 170 international meetings, conferences and workshops in endoscopic sinus surgery. He has conducted several workshops world wide including Europe, USA and Latin America. He has given more than 600 lectures worldwide on the subject of Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. Since 1995, Dr Sethi has been conducting an annual course on Endoscopic Sinus Surgery including cadaver dissections and live surgery demonstrations at the Singapore General Hospital which has gained international reputation.

In 1998, Dr Sethi received the coveted Mahaley Clinical Research Award from the National Brain Tumor Foundation in the United States of America for his work on pituitary surgery. In 2001, he received a gold medal for the Singapore General Hospital Excellent Publication Award. For his scientific and instructional contributions towards the American of Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery Foundation, Dr Sethi was presented an Honor Award by the Academy in San Diego in 2002. Dr Sethi received the accolade of being the Guest of Honor for Prof Stammberger’s 30th FESS course in Graz in 2002. In 2005, Dr Sethi was conferred the "Pioneer of ASEAN Rhinology" award by the President of ASEAN ORL Federation. Reviewer for several journals, Dr Sethi is on the editorial board of European Journal of Rhinology.

A/Prof Wang De Yun
Research Associate Professor & Director of Research, Otolaryngology
National University of Singapore



A/Prof Wang De Yun is currently Research Associate Professor (Tenure) and Director of Research, Department of Otolaryngology at the National University of Singapore. He completed his medical education and ENT training in China, and was a practicing ENT surgeon until his further study in Belgium in 1989. He obtained his Master Degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Research (1991) and PhD Degree in Medical Sciences (1995) in the Free University Brussels (Belgium). He was thereafter appointed Director of Rhinology and Clinical Immunology Research at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University of Ghent, Belgium from 1996-1997. He started as Research Scientist at the Department of Otolaryngology, National University of Singapore in 1997.

A/Prof Wang has published over a hundred papers in the prestigious medical journals and books, and has been invited to give more than 250 lectures in the scientific meetings worldwide. He is a member of the editorial boards of twelve allergy, ENT and medical journals and member of expert committee and writing group for several international and European guidelines and consensus report in allergic rhinitis, e.g., European White Paper in Allergy, European Position Paper in Treatment of Allergic Rhinitis, International Consensus Report on Allergic Rhinitis in Childhood, WHO Initiative: Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA 2001 and 2008 Update), European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps (EPOS, Revision 2007). He received the Sam Sanders Basic Science Award given by the American Academy Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) in 2003. He is currently the Vice President of the Beijing Ear Nose and Throat College since 2004, and visiting professor of four top medical universities in China. He is also the Coordinator for Asia-Oceania for the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA2LEN).

Prof Yeoh Kian Hian

Professor K. H. Yeoh is an ENT surgeon with a long established private practice who is internationally known for his expertise in rhinology and allergy. He established the ENT Department at NUH in 1987 and was appointed Clinical Professor and Head when the department became under the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1991. As chief, he built it into a respected academic department with a full time basic and clinical research division. He remains active in private practice and as Clinical Professor in NUS in teaching and research, with particular reference to allergy. Prof Yeoh's expertise in inhalant allergy and immunotherapy is matched only by his extensive experience in food allergy and intolerance.

Prof Yeoh has presented numerous papers and lectures on ENT and Allergy locally and internationally since 1984, and has co-authored several publications.

Prof Yeoh has served as examiner for local and international bodies and has been a member of expert panels on ENT. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Fellow of the American and Australasian College of Surgeons as well as Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

He is also Professor and Vice Chairman of Otolaryngology and Director of Otolaryngology Specialist Formation at the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Phnom Penh. He is a member of the National Cambodian Medical Board.

Dr Shi Li is a full Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, Qi Lu Hospital, Shandong University in China. She is also the Director of the Allergy Clinic and Research Laboratory in the hospital. She is one of the leading ENT Allergists in China and has been elected as the Vice Chairman of the Shandong Provincial Allergy Society in 2008. She is active in both clinical care and researches in the field of allergy and clinical immunology. She is also the editorial member of the Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology & Skull Base Surgery.

He is the Chairman of the Rhinologic Society of China and board member of both the Rhinologic Society of China (IRS) and International Symposium on Infection and Allergy of the Nose (ISIAN).


 
 

Prof Zhang Yamei

Professor Zhang Yamei is the Head of Otolaryngology Department in the Capital Medical University affiliated Beijing Children’s Hospital in China. She is also a member of the Standing Committee of Chinese Otorhinolaryngology and Head-neck Society, and Chairman of the Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Subcommittee. She is a member of the editorial boards of four international and Chinese ENT journals and has published over 40 original articles in the international and Chinese ENT journals. She has profound clinical and research experiences in paediatric airway diseases and sleep disorders. Currently, she is leading two national research projects, which investigate the prevalence and epidemiological factors for allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis in 3-5 years old children in China.

Dr Nina Irawati is a Consultant in Allergy – Immunology ENT Department University of Indonesia – Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta. She is also the Head of Allergy – Immunology working group of the Indonesian Otorhinolayngology Head & Neck Surgery Society. She is a board member of Indonesian Society for Allergy –Immunology.

Dr Nina has done several researches focusing on Allergic Rhinitis, Nasal Polyps and Occupational Rhinitis. She had attended several allergy courses and workshops in Singapore, Thailand and Europe. Dr Nina is widely known as an invited speaker and instructor on Allergy – Immunology in Indonesia.

Professor Teti Madiadipoera is the Head of Subdivision of Allergy and Rhinology & Coordinator of Research and Development of Department of Otolaryngolgy in Padjadjaran University, Hasan Saikin Hospital, Indonesia. Widely regarded as an authority on otolaryngologic allergy in Indonesia, she obtained her post graduate training in otolaryngologic allergy and immunology at Mahidol University, Bangkok and Nipon Medical School, Tokyo before obtaining her PhD in Padjadjaran University in 2003. She obtained her professorship in 2003 and has served as Head of Department since 2006. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and a member of the European Academy Allergology and Clinical Immunology.

  Dr Harvinder Singh

Harvinder Singh obtained his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in India. He obtained his Master’s Degree in ORL-HNS from Universiti Sains Malysia in 2002. He then went on to complete his Rhinology training in Singapore under Assoc Prof Dharambir Singh Sethi in 2008. He is currently working as a Consultant Rhinologist and Otolaryngologists in Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh, Perak. He has published numerous articles in both local and international journals. Currently, he is also on the editorial board of the Medical Journal of Malaysia and Berita MMA. Harvinder has a specific interest in Rhinology, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and Skull Base Surgery.

  Dr Kuljit Singh

Dr Kuljit Singh was formerly a Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Medicine, Department of ENT, University Malaya and ENT Specialist at University Malaya Medical Centre with a keen interest in allergy. Currently, he leads two private allergy centres in Kuala Lumpur with ENT facilities. He started the allergy centre in University Malaya Medical Centre in 2005.

He has spoken widely on allergy and conducted several studies/courses on allergy in Malaysia. Currently, he is the President of the Malaysian Society of Otorhinolaryngologists – Head and Neck Surgeons and Deputy Secretary-General of the Malaysian Medical Association and Assistant Secretary of Malaysian Society of Allergy and Immunology.

  Dr Anne Marie Espiritu

Dr Espiritu heads the Rhinopharyngology and Allergy Section, Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ORL), Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH). She is Chair of the MDH Blue Book Committee which is involved with policy-making for all the Fellows, Residents, and Interns in MDH. She also heads the Training Committee of the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (PSO-HNS) and is a member of the Surgical Training Committee, Philippine College of Surgeons.

She was Chair of the Specialty Diagnostic and Management Services Department and of the Committee on Medical Education and Training in MDH. She established the first ENT Allergy Section in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Philippine General Hospital and is a founding member of the Philippine Academy of Rhinology.

She has given numerous lectures in the Philippines on topics related to Rhinology and ORL allergy and Immunology. She is a diplomate and fellow of the PSO-HNS and is the sole ORL member of the Philippine Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. She obtained her medical degree, four-year Residency training in ORL-HNS, and two-year Fellowship training in Allergy from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, and the Department of ORL and the Department of Medicine at the University of the Phil.-Phil. General Hospital.

He was past presidents of the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, International Symposium on Infection and Allergy of the NOSE (ISIAN) and Asian Research Symposium in Rhinology (ARSR).

He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and had his residency training at UP PGH Medical Center. He did his fellowship training in Germany, Austria and USA.

Pongsakorn Tantilipikorn completed his ENT training in Thailand in 1997. He was Professor David Kennedy’s fellow in University of Pennsylvania in 1997-1999. He currently is an Assistant professor at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University. He is also Director of Allergy & Rhinology Division and runs the international ESS hands-on course in Thailand every year. He has been involved in research and clinical treatment related to Rhinosinusitis and Allergic Rhinitis. His special interest is Endoscopic Frontal & Sphenoid Surgery, Pathophysiology of Polyps and Efficacy of Allergen Immunotherapy.

A/Prof Sanguansak Thanaviratananich is the Head of Department and Head of Allergy-rhinology Unit, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, Thailand. He obtained his medical degree and ENT residency training from Mahidol University, Thailand. He also obtained master degree of clinical epidemiology. He had been a visiting scholar in endoscopic sinus surgery, University of Graz, Austria in 1992 and research scholar at Division of Otolaryngology, Department of Surgery, University of Chicago in 2003. His areas of clinical research include Rhinology (Rhinosinusitis, Anatomy of Nose & Paranasal Sinus in Asian, Nasal Polyps, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery), Allergy and Evidence-based ENT practice. He's now the Secretary General of Thai Rhinologic Society.

  Prof Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung

Prof Dung is the Director of ENT Hospital , Ho Chi Minh City and Chairman of ENT Department of Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She is the currently President of the Vietnamese ORL Society.

She obtained her medical degree and completed her ENT residency program from the Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. In 2004, she obtained her PhD degree in ENT from the Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and was given her Assistant Professorship in 2009.

She has been very active in organizing international meetings in Vietnam and successfully presided over the ASEAN ORL Meeting 2009 and Asian Research Symposium in Rhinology (ARSR) 2010.

  Prof Shin-ichi Haruna
Professor and Chairman, Department of Otorhinolaryngology

Dr Shin-ichi Haruna has been a professor and a chairman in the department of Otorhinolaryngology, Dokkyo Medical University Hospital, Japan since 2005. Dr Haruna was named clinical professor of Korea University Medical Center as an affiliate professor in 2006. He is an executive board member of the Japan rhinologic society, the Japan society for pediatric ORL, and the Japan society of immunology & allergology in otolaryngology. In addition, he is a council of many medical academic societies, including the oto-rhino-laryngological society of Japan.

In 2002, he received the Japan rhinologic society’s award, and the theme was “eosinophilic rhino sinusitis.” He has much experience for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis, including medication and surgical treatment. In particular, he worked on long-term, low-dose macrolide administration for chronic sinusitis with Prof Moriyama of Jikei-kai Universty when he was a junior doctor.

His current interests are Pathological condition of eosinophilic sinusitis and Endoscopic sinus surgery: sinusitis, mucocele, vision surgery, navigation surgery, anterior skull base surgery.

Prof Lee Bee Wah
Adjunct Professor, Department of Paediatrics

Dr Lee Bee Wah is an Adjunct Professor at the National University of Singapore. She is also a Consultant Paediatrician, specializing in Clinical Paediatric Immunology and Allergy at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, Singapore and Visiting Senior Consultant Paediatrician at the Children's Medical Institute, National University Hospital, Singapore.

She is immediate past President of the Asia Pacific Association of Pediatric Allergy Respirology and Immunology (APAPARI) (2006-08), and Vice President of the Singapore Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (since 2007-), and member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (since 2006). She is also a corresponding fellow of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology. She is the current President of the College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Singapore (2007-2009), and a member of the Expert Committee on Immunization, Ministry of Health, Singapore. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the World Allergy Organization since 2005.

Her key research interests include Paediatric Allergic Diseases, the role of Probiotics and Stool Microbiota in the development of Allergic Diseases, Epidemiology of Allergic Diseases, and Childhood Vaccines. She has published over 170 research articles in peer-reviewed journals.

  Dr Glenis Scadding

Dr Glenis Scadding is a Consultant Physician in Allergy & Rhinology and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, practicing at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London. She is currently the President of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. She is also a long standing member of EAACI and is the present Chair of the ENT Section. In 2006 she won the BSACI William Frankland Award for outstanding contribution to clinical allergy in the United Kingdom. She has also contributed to all major guidelines on Rhinitis and Rhinosinusitis, including Paediatric Rhinosinusitis.
